Submission Guidelines
The OrphanAge is a Zine. With a zine’s celebration of rough 'n tumble DIY aesthetic, we also aspire to presenting the finest in new art. (note: if you have suggestions, please pass them along. We probably wont listen, but you never know… 😉 😎)
The OrphanAge is ok with “edgy”, but work needs to be “art” (like the Supreme Court, we like to think we’ll know when we see/hear it 😎).
By submitting you affirm all work sent by you is:
1) original,
2) is by you, and
3) that you have the legal right to submit it for public dissemination.
Types of Work Accepted
Text: Fiction, Poetry, creative nonfiction and essay, memoir
Visual: photography, graphic art, video
Audio: music, ambient, vocal performance (better word)
New Media: hell there’s all sorts of new things, and we don’t pretend to know it all
Formats
No AI generated content. Do we really have to say this?
Text: We love Markdown format. Other wise, MSWord, RTF, of PDF. Max word counts: 1,000 or 3 short-to-medium poems.
Visual: Most image formats are ok, we will convert it necessary. The higher the image size and resolution the better.
Video: Common Phone and Video formats are fine, Youtube, Vimeo links with time markers are ok as long as embed permissions are given. Try to keep below 6 minutes if possible.
Audio: Most common audio formats are acceptable. 1-3 mins in length please.
The OrphanAge is a curated zine, and submission does not guarantee publication. We don’t mind simultaneous submissions. If submitted work is available elsewhere, we need you to tell us, and provide a link.
In an attempt to avoid the lowest-common-denominator Enshittification rampant on most platforms, we will not accept screeds against race or gender, etc, and any invective needs to be reasoned and clever 😉.
You and you alone are legally responsible for any work you submit, and you wholly absolve the OrphanAge and its staff from any and all legal responsibility. If legal issues were to arise regarding your submission, you agree to fair compensation in a timely manner.
